old print of a view of Plymouth Pier in Devon

Old Photograph of Plymouth Pier

Old picture from the Victorian / Edwardian era of Plymouth pier and in the distance Drakes island. Work started on building the pier in 1880 and it was finished in 1884 at a cost of £45000 but unfortunately the pier was destroyed by German bombs in 1941. One of the advertising boards on the side of the pier is for Van Houtens Cocoa & Sunlight Soap. Aerial map of the view
