Old picture from the Victorian / Edwardian era of the old Plague cottages in Eyam. The village was made famous when in August 1665 bubonic plague arrived in the village in a parcel of cloth sent from London, so to prevent the plague from spreading the villages confined themselves to the village with many dying over a period of 14 months.
